Reverse Your Ceiling Fan and Enjoy the Efficiency Benefits

Reverse Your Ceiling Fan and Enjoy the Efficiency BenefitsWith the warm summer months approaching fast, you are probably looking for ways to cool your home that are cost-effective as well as ways to help reduce your energy bill. One of the easiest ways to help your cooling system run more efficiently is to simply reverse your ceiling fan.

During warmer months when you will rely on your home’s cooling system, change the direction of your ceiling fans so they move counter clockwise. Most ceiling fans will have a small switch at the base of the unit or near the motor house that allows you to easily change the direction of your fans.

When you reverse your ceiling fan during warm weather, it helps to shift cooler air from below and creates more air movement throughout the room. As more air moves across your skin it helps make the room seem cooler that it may be. While the actual temperature of the room may not change, the effects of the ceiling fan will be noticeable.

Not only will this help you feel cooler but can also help you reduce your energy costs. Ceiling fans can offer more immediate relief on hot summer days and may help in preventing you from lowering the temperature of your cooling system. Since you will be able to feel the effects much faster, you will be able to set the temperature of your cooling system a few degrees higher than normal yet still remain cool.

And unlike your home’s cooling system, ceiling fans can easily be switched on and off as you move to different rooms in your home allowing you even more control over your homes energy costs.
