A Humidifier in the Summer Can Help More Than You Think

A Humidifier in the Summer Can Help More Than You ThinkIf you live in Peachtree City or surrounding areas, summers can be a hassle. It can be difficult to stay cool and comfortable as air temperatures rise. Many homeowners turn to air conditioners when the weather heats up, but  humidifiers can also be an important part of staying comfortable in the Georgia heat. A humidifier can do several things to help you enjoy your summer a little more:

1) It can reduce dry air in the home. If you run an air conditioner, especially, your home may have dry air in the summer, since air conditioners dry out the air. Dry air can contribute to nosebleeds, headaches, sore throats, dry skin and hair, and sinus troubles. It can also cause static electricity and can damage furniture and other possessions by causing them to dry and crack. Introducing moisture back into the air in your home can help combat these problems and can make you healthier since moisture in the air can improve breathing quality and can help alleviate eczema and asthma symptoms.

2) It may help you improve your home’s value. A whole house humidifier may make homes eligible for the Green-Built Certification Program overseen by the National Association of Home Builders. A whole home humidifier is installed as part of your HVAC system and lets you control moisture levels from your thermostat . Once installed, you can use your humidifier to keep your home comfortable all year long.

3) It can help you control humidity levels in your home. Humidity and temperature are a delicate balance. Generally, higher humidity levels mean higher perceived temperatures, meaning that on muggy days when moisture in the air is high you will feel warmer than on drier days. However, while drier air may feel cooler it can also become uncomfortable. On dry days, humidifying systems can help you balance the need for comfortable air moisture with the need for cooler temperatures.
