Tankless Water Heaters

Depending on the number of people living in your home, making your new water heater a tankless one may be a great way to save a lot of money on your energy bill. For smaller homes and houses with only two or three people living under one roof, a tankless heater may be perfect since it can easily handle one use at a time, such as a shower, or two less intense uses, such as a dishwasher and clothes washer at once. These water heaters warm up the water as it is needed, removing the need for a tank of hot water to be constantly re-heated throughout the day. A tankless heater usually costs a few hundred dollars, and usually around a couple of hundred dollars for the installation.

Conventional Water Heaters

A water heater with a tank is great for homes with large families since it can release hot water to several appliances or fixtures at once without running out for quite a while. Since these water heaters have been around for a long time, you can generally find these brand new for a couple of hundred dollars, with a similar price tag for installation. You may end up paying a little more for the constant reheating of the water, but if you have a lot of people living with you, it may be the best choice.
