Duct Cleaning: Is It Worth It for Your Peachtree City Home?

Duct Cleaning: Is It Worth It for Your Peachtree City Home?

Duct Cleaning: Is It Worth It for Your Peachtree City Home? When was the last time your HVAC system benefited from a professional duct cleaning? If the answer is “never,” or so long ago you can’t remember, you should consider hiring a licensed HVAC technician to inspect, and clean, the ducts in your Peachtree City home.

Over time, dust, allergens, insect and vermin residue, mold/mildew and other debris can accumulate in your duct system. This can obstruct airflow, increase energy consumption and compromise your indoor air quality. If you perceive issues with your ductwork, an inspection will ensure your ducts are cleaned and properly sealed, which will help to prevent debris from accumulating in the future.

Here are examples of when duct cleaning is recommended:

New construction. Whether you have moved into a new home, or have recently done some remodeling, new construction can cause your ducts to become laden with debris. Once new construction is completed, it’s a good idea to have your ducts professionally cleaned and to change your air filter. This will prevent the construction debris from recirculating through your forced-air system.

Allergy season. If your ducts haven’t been cleaned in a while, and you are prone to allergies, it might be worthwhile to schedule an inspection and duct cleaning before we get further into allergy season. If your duct system is well maintained, it should not need to be cleaned again anytime soon.

Mold and mildew. Humid climates are prone to mold and mildew growth. If it has been a while since your ducts have been inspected, there is a chance mold and mildew spores have had the time to take up residence. An HVAC technician can inspect your ducts to see if there is any mold/mildew present. If so, he will recommend a cleaning.

While there is no exact recommendation for how often ducts should be cleaned, routine HVAC maintenance will ensure your system is inspected and maintained on a regular basis. We can also make recommendations for air cleaning systems that will further improve your indoor air quality.
