Chemical contaminates will reduce your indoor air quality and lead to health problems that range from mild to serious. Unfortunately, most homeowners are not aware of the dangers lurking in their own home from products they regularly used. Common cleaners, gas-fueled appliances and even furniture will fill the air you breathe with contaminates and pollutants. • Keep open flames out of your home. This includes cigarette smoke, candles, incense and liquid fuel.

In addition to the three preventive measures discussed above, regularly clean your home to prevent a buildup of dust and dirt, and always allow new furniture and carpet to off gas in a well-ventilated area for a few days before adding it to your home. Another option for increasing your air quality is to install an air purifier in the home. Air purifiers remove tiny particles from the air, which makes it cleaner.
